Ray Prather was appointed to the following leadership positions of the (ABA) Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law: American Bar Association Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity; Assistant Editor to Trust and Estate, eReport; Group Vice-Chair of the Charitable Planning and Organizations Group; and Member of Corporate Sponsorship Committee.
The Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI Commission) seeks to secure equal treatment for all people in the ABA, the legal profession, and the justice system, without regard to sexual orientation or gender identity. Projects include an anti-bullying initiative, model rules of professional conduct, a newsletter and resolutions impacting LGBT people and the law.
The eReport is the quarterly electronic publication of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section. The committees of the Charitable Planning and Organizations Group are concerned with both sides of the charitable giving process (donor and recipient) and with the federal and state regulation of charitable giving.
The focus of the Charitable Planning Committee is on the various tax and non-tax issues for the donor, while the charity's concerns are addressed by the Charitable Organizations Committee.
